The caffeine and antioxidants in coffee are moderately effective in mitigating the appearance of cellulite in the short term. As a stimulant, the caffeine in coffee dilates blood vessels, temporarily tones and tightens tissues.
Exfoliating with coffee to reduce cellulite
Coffee increases circulation and reduces fluid retention, which can also help smooth out the wrinkled appearance of cellulite. Coffee’s antioxidants can help release toxins, which is not only useful for cellulite, but for healthy skin in general. For this recipe, always use fresh ground coffee to maximize benefits, as it has more antioxidants and caffeine than used ground coffee.
And remember, always accompany your beauty recipes that are applied to the skin, with a diet rich in healthy foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, drink the necessary water and eliminating, in addition, the processed foods that cause cellulite, such as white flours, soft drinks or cola, sausages, white sugar, artificial sweeteners and try to reduce the salt in your food.
Procedure to manufacture the coffee scrub
- Mix 1/4 cup of ground coffee with 3 tablespoons of hot water and let the mixture stand for 10 minutes to absorb the water and form a paste. Then, mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil to help glue the ground coffee. (This will make it easier to spread on the skin, and offer additional moisturizing effects.)
- Before applying the mixture, clean the area with the cellulite problem in a hot shower, then apply the exfoliant by massaging with circular movements of two to four minutes with your hands or a wipe.
- Rinse with warm water to remove all debris, then pat dry and hydrate if desired.
